A New Virus and Mountains of Self-Pity

My son is sick again.  He was well for two full, glorious days when he was not, in fact, staying with me.  And now he has another fever – another cold – another virus.

I went in there a little while ago because he was coughing and moaning.

He felt hot.

I went to get medicine because it had been a long time and it was clear the fever was back.

When I went back in, huge tears were rolling out of his eyes, over flushed cheeks, into a flushed neck and he looked at me and said, “I don’t want to have a fever…  I don’t want to have a fever…”

I held him and stroked his hair until he fell asleep again and the medicine should be kicking in for him around about now.  I’ll go to check on him in a moment.

Then I am going to cry myself to sleep I think.

Does anyone have any suggestions for effective musical accompaniment to virulent fatigue and rampant self pity?
